Approval MOFA:

In order to clarify the procedure from our side, kindly note the following.

The Embassy’s role is to liaise with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to facilitate customs procedures for diplomatic shipments and state-related shipments. Our involvement in this matter is to ensure that all necessary diplomatic channels are used for a smooth customs clearance process, which is essential for maintaining compliance with local regulations and diplomatic protocols.

In this instance, we will be requesting a customs exemption and the necessary permissions for the temporary import and subsequent re-export of the Dutch artworks, which are culturally significant representations of Dutch heritage, intended for the exhibition at the Mondrian Hotel in Doha.

To proceed, please provide us the following details:

  1. Detailed shipment information, including the total value and specifics on the pieces being transported.
  2. Confirmation of the consignee’s details, which will be referenced in our communication with MOFA.
  3. Airwaybill details for the shipment.
  4. Expected date of arrival in Doha.

The Embassy will then submit a formal Note Verbale to MOFA outlining the purpose of the shipment. Once approval is granted, MOFA will coordinate with the relevant authorities to facilitate the smooth entry and exit of the artwork.

Please note that in the State of Qatar, the workweek runs from Sunday to Thursday, with Friday and Saturday as weekends. This schedule may affect processing times, so it’s advisable to plan accordingly for any necessary coordination.

Should the organizers have any questions or require further clarification, they are welcome to contact me directly on my mobile or through our email address DOH-AZ@minbuza.nl.

Best regards,

Umar Rahim Al Balooshi

Question:

Do we still need a ATA Carnet, when we would obtain the MOFA permission ?
